Dog Friendly Stays with Ways Away

We know how important it is to bring every member of the family on holiday, which is why we welcome wellbehaved dogs in four of our six properties. Each dogfriendly stay includes a comfortable dog bed and a small selection of treats, ready for your companion’s arrival. Our locations offer easy access to coastal paths, woodland walks and several dog-friendly beaches, making Dartmouth an excellent base for exploring South Devon with your dog.

Dog-Friendly Beaches in and Around Dartmouth

The Dartmouth area offers a mix of secluded coves, long shingle stretches and sheltered bays where dogs can enjoy the coastline alongside you. Below is a clear guide to the most convenient dogfriendly beaches for guests staying with us.

  • A quiet, tuckedaway cove close to Dartmouth Castle. Dogs are welcome all year. The walk down is steep but short, and the setting feels peaceful and unspoilt.

  • Another small cove near the castle, reached via steps. Dogs are allowed yearround. Ideal for a quick paddle after a coastal walk.

  • A long, sweeping shingle beach stretching for miles, with dogs welcome throughout the year. Easy access from the road and plenty of space for longer walks.

  • Located at the northern end of Slapton Sands. Dogs are permitted all year and the beach is usually quieter than the central stretch.

  • A wilder, more rural National Trust beach with a natural feel. Dogs are welcome yearround. Access is via a steep track, but the scenery and open space make it a rewarding choice.

  • Dogs are allowed all year on the north side of the beach. A good option for guests exploring the Torbay area.

  • Dogs are welcome from November to March. Outside the main summer season, it’s a beautiful, sheltered beach with excellent facilities.
