Local Dartmouth Walks to Explore During Your Stay

Dartmouth is full of beautiful places to wander, from gentle heritage trails to bigview coastal paths. Here are some of our favourite local walks — perfect for a morning stroll, an afternoon adventure, or a full day out exploring.

Gallants Bower

A peaceful woodland walk leading up to the remains of a Civil War fort. The climb is gentle and the views across the River Dart are worth every step.

Kingswear Daymark

The Kingswear Daymark is one of South Hams’ most iconic landmarks. This striking 80 foot stone tower was built in 1864 to guide ships safely into Dartmouth. You can reach it from Brownstone Car Park or along the South West Coast Path. Expect big skies, sea views, and plenty of photo moments.

Mayflower Heritage Trails

Step back in time with one of our favourite self-guided routes through Dartmouth’s historic streets. Follow in the footsteps of the Pilgrim Fathers, discover hidden corners of the town, and learn a little local history along the way. The Mayflower Heritage Trail is great for families and gentle explorers.
