About Merchant’s Rest

Merchant’s Rest is located within the heart of Dartmouth. It is a contemporary first floor apartment within a prominent Grade I listed building. The former 17th Century Merchant’s House has been tastefully restored and renovated with modern amenities whilst retaining many original features including a Charles I plaster ceiling and mullion windows. It is a comfortable and modern apartment with plenty of character centrally located for Dartmouth’s quaint shops, wonderful restaurants and famous harbour.

  • Merchant’s Rest has two bedrooms. The first is a master bedroom furnished with a kind sized bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and two bedside cabinets with lamps.

  • The second, a cabin room, is furnished with a 4ft double bed with a 2ft 6 single bed on top. We recommend that the double bed is only used for one adult or two children and the single bed, given its size, is used for one child. The cabin room is fitted with a wardrobe and two beside cabinets complete with lamps.

  • There is one family bathroom at Merchant’s Rest which features a bath with shower over, WC, wash basin, shaver point, heated towel rail and a cabinet.

  • The interior of this apartment benefits from a large open-plan living, kitchen and dining area. The original fireplace and mullion windows remain yet the kitchen has been upgraded with high-gloss doors and stone work surfaces. The living space has been furnished with comfy L shaped sofa, a coffee table and foot stool. There is also a smart TV. The family dining table seats five. The result is a contemporary, open plan apartment; perfect for relaxing after a day spent exploring Dartmouth and the surrounding South Devon coastline.

  • Merchant’s Rest has a high-gloss modern kitchen with an electric double oven, integrated grill, electric hob, washer dryer, dishwasher and fridge freezer. It is fully equipped with a microwave, kettle, toaster and a cafetiere whilst the cupboards and drawers are stocked with a range of crockery and utensils.

  • Merchant’s Rest benefits from a secure garage only 250 metres away, located on Oxford Street, which is suitable for one medium-sized car. Please note the dimensions are 16ft x 14ft. There are two parking spaces however the second space is reserved for our other property Merchant’s Rise.

  • All our properties have access to electric car charging at our car park in the centre of Dartmouth. Charges will apply and spaces are limited so please contact us using the details below to reserve your spot today.

  • Merchant’s Rest benefits from a secure garage only 250 metres away, located on Oxford Street, which is suitable for one medium-sized car. Please note the dimensions are 16ft x 14ft. There are two parking spaces however the second space is reserved for our other property Merchant’s Rise.

  • Please be advised that all our properties are available to check-in from 4pm. Check-out time is 10am however if you would like a later check-out, please contact us and we shall try to accommodate where possible.

  • Four-legged friends are welcome at Merchant’s Rest and are charged at £20 per night.

  • We provide a starter pack of milk, tea, sugar, coffee pods, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets for all our stays. Within the bathroom you will find complimentary toiletries such as handwash, bodywash, shampoo and conditioner.
